Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes.

Art is knowing which ones to keep. - Scott Adams

Hello

Welcome to DWM Design. The DWM stands for Daryl Wayne Martin, and that’s me. I am a freelance graphic designer and illustrator working in Huntsville, Alabama. I have been working in the “Rocket City” since 1997, creating graphics, logos, T-shirts, stationary packages, and much more. I’ve had the opportunity to work on almost everything, from tiny web buttons all the way up to graphics on luxury tour buses, and I am just as comfortable doing page layout as I am retouching photos in Photoshop or creating logos.

I have over 13 years of design experience, and I can help you with all your creative needs, whether it’s business cards, a new logo, photo manipulation, T-shirts,  print advertising, or maybe even a website. Thanks for visiting. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

About Me

As an artist, I’ve always had a strong interest in graphics —the relationships of type, color and imagery to convey meaning. When I started college at UAH in 1992, I had every intention of becoming a mechanical engineer. I was going to graduate and head to Motown to design cars. In college, I became more interested in working with computers to manipulate digital media and create art. so they suggested a career as a graphic designer.

I continued to study traditional art techniques and color theory, supplementing my education with art history. In 1998, I graduated with an Art Studio degree in Graphic Design from UAHand I immediately began working as a graphic designer for The Huntsville Times. It was in that fast-paced environment that I was able to learn so much  so quickly about graphics and typography. Like any designer, I always have more to learn, so in my spare time I decided to do a little freelance work, and thus DWM Design was born.

In my spare time I enjoy working on and restoring my 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle, playing video games, and cycling. I also try to keep up with the latest web technology so I can translate what I know about design to the web. I’m more of a print designer, but it’s hard to deny the power and functionality of today’s internet.
